• Syria Refugee Relief Benefit featuring photojournalist Thomas Hammond raised $1,800 split evenly between three of the best charities working on this issue.
• Lowcountry Peace, a new local chapter of Carolina Peace was started in Charleston.
• Tabling at NAACP’s MLK Day at the Statehouse and petition to repeal Stand Your Ground
• Demonstration marking the anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death.
• Talk on “South Carolina’s Nuclear Waste Problem” with Suzanne Rhodes, League of Women Voters
• “Mother’s Day for Peace” Dinner at Modjeska Simkins House
• Support for NETWORK’s screening of the film “The Stranger” on immigration in West Columbia
• “Latin American Social Movements” talk with author Clif Ross
• Lobby Day delivering the “Repeal Stand Your Ground” petition with 1,000 signatories at the Statehouse
• ACTION ALERT on proposal to bring German HEU Nuclear Waste to SRS and attending DOE Hearings
• GAZA PROTESTS: Organized a Statehouse and a 5 Points Demonstration in Columbia covered by TV news and provided signs and support demonstrations in Charlotte, NC; Augusta, GA; & Charleston, SC.
• Two radio appearances on OnPoint with Cynthia Hardy (re: Gaza, Ferguson) and one on her TV show.
• Helped organize the annual Hiroshima Day vigil and the Hirsohima: Never Forget art exhibit
• Promoted & attended “Swords into Ploughshares” and Carolinas Human Rights Organizing conferences
• Organizing 101 Training with Tim Franzen of the American Friends Service Committee
• Peace Day at the Statehouse, large festival style event with a dozen participating organizations marking the International Day of Peace, Sept 21st. Covered in The State.
• Gaza Panel Discussion with Edie Garwood of Amnesty International at USC
• Organized barnstorming tour of “My Name is Rachel Corrie” play in Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston
• Helped Faith Coalition on Gun Violence (FCGV) over many months planning Nov 8th “Step Up to Stop Gun Violence” march and rally at the SC Statehouse
• Organized Ferguson Response and Stop Policy Brutality protests at the Statehouse, garnering media coverage, but also held organizing meetings to turn protest into a real reform movement here in SC.
• Mentored two USC student Fall Organizing paid interns. Please support our internship program!
