50 Years Ago: Dr King’s “Beyond Vietnam” Speech Called Out Racism, Materialism and Militarism

2017 marks the 50th anniversary of Dr. King’s Beyond Vietnam speech, delivered April 4, 1967. A passionate defense of nonviolence, King called out his own government as the “greatest purveyor of violence in the world,” condemning the Vietnam war, a war that was consuming resources needed to remedy poverty and injustice a home. Peace in Colombia? South Carolina Hosts Marcia Mejía Chirimia

61-marciaMarcia Mejía Chirimia is a human rights defender and an indigenous Nonam leader from the community of Santa Rosa de Guyacán in Colombia. She is scheduled to make two presentations on the peace process in Colombia with an emphasis on how women, indigenous, and other marginalized communities are impacted on Thursday, October 6.
