USC graduate Asma Jaber and USC student Danya Nayfeh talk about what it is like for Palestinians, their experiences living in Palestine during this past year, and how we organize for a just peace.

Asma Jaber is a Palestinian American graduate student of Public Policy at Harvard University Kennedy School of Government where she is a Harry S. Truman Scholar. Asma lived the past six months in Palestine where she interned with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. There she researched movement and access restrictions due to the Israeli occupation in Palestine. A graduate of the University of South Carolina Honors College, Asma is a native of the Carolinas where she enjoys the Blue Ridge Mountains that are reminiscent of Palestine.

Danya Nayfeh is a Palestinian-American senior international studies major in the Honors College at the University of South Carolina. Danya lived in Palestine from December through May of the past year where she studied at Birzeit University and volunteered with the Independent Commission for Human Rights. She studied Palestinian history and culture, and conducted research on human rights abuses committed by both Israel and the Palestinian leadership. She also participated in a number of demonstrations and witnessed Israeli brutality first-hand. She plans to go to law school and continue the fight for human rights in Palestine and a peaceful solution to the conflict.
