MENA Uprisings: One Year Later

A panel about the after-effects of what is commonly referred to as the “Arab Spring” movement. Featuring activists and professors as panelists, this event will address the historical background of the uprisings, the role of Western governments in the crises, the question of Israel/Palestine and how it fits into the context of these movements, the implications for human rights, and Amnesty International’s stance on the issue. Speakers include Professor David Decker of the USC History Department, local activist Ayman Fadel representing the Carolina Peace Resource Center, and Amnesty International Country Specialist for Israel/OPT/PA Edith Garwood, and there will be a Q&A session immediately following their presentations.
